Dang, it's really been over 10 years since I posted a game, huh? Heed my warning, small children of Newgrounds who are here to look at naked cartoon ladies: life moves fast. Anyway, I'm back with Chester! It's a beefed-up version of an entry I submitted to this year js13kgames competition. That's really the only time I make games anymore, and my zest for it usually ends at the deadline. I don't know why, but I just wanted more out of this one, so I kept working on all the shit I couldn't fit into submission. I'm quite chuffed with the result!
I'm also quite happy it's made the front page (thank you, Newgrounds!). In an era of endless AI slop and algorithm, it's more important than ever to have quality human curation like you find here on Newgrounds. In fact, it's made a world of difference in pretty much every game I've ever made. Mine don't always scream of greatness as soon as you start, and that is a truly essential trait if you're trying to yank someone from their doomscroll to focus on something you poured your heart and soul into for a month.
I wouldn't have achieved the number of views I have without the human element recognizing something a little more in my games. That's truth. Go look at the view counts on my games on any other site I've submitted them to to see it (do those even exist anymore?). Anyway, maybe I should just make better games. And surely I should hang out here more.
