Haxe is Cool/Power of 4/Jet Pack Jesus

Posted by DBuck-Eye - June 18th, 2014

Take a looksee here:

1 game, 5 devices

That's my next solo game, running in flash.  And also natively on a Mac, a PC, an iPod 4G, a Nexus 7, and an Ouya.  So that's pretty fucking cool.  And it's all thanks to Haxe, Lime, OpenFL, and HaxeFlixel, which finally got their collective shit together enough to allow me to compile to every platform know to man, which is, again, pretty fucking cool.

So it looks like my next game, Jet Pack Jesus, won't be just on the interwebs, which is good, because I think it's a good game for when you're on the go.  Or when your shit's on the go.  As in you are shitting on the toilet.  And playing a game on your phone.  I'm funny, damnit.

So thank you Haxe for giving me my newfound, God-like powers, and to anyone that's reading this and looking to move into the mobile space, give Haxe a shot!  To the rest of you, watch out for Jet Pack Jesus to arrive, hopefully by the end of Summer!

Onto the old Power of 4!  I want to do it.  I need to get team experience, and I need to make more games, so this could be good for me.  I don't know how I'll do it, but I assume I can handle one fourth of the workload.  If anyone out there is looking to team up with an experienced programmer, look elsewhere, but if a subpar programmer who's made a few almost-popular games will fit the bill, I'm your man!  But make it quick!

Can't wait for your work man, keep up the good work!

Good!

Would love to see you on a team, don't hesitate to directly contact artists on the site who you like! Also, keep an eye on the up-and-coming artists, who would probably totally jump on a game with you.

What the fulpster said. There's more artist's out there than there are programmers so you guys are pretty in demand.

Would you like to do a small-medium sized pixel art game? I can make pixel art pretty quickly so I could team up for a not-huge project. :) I could do some music instead too. I don't really care what it is, so you or someone else can design the game. I like to draw weird monsters tho. :D

Also, FYI, you can compile to mobile with AS3 too! I've been working on a game in FlashDevelop. I'm definitely thinking about trying haxe in the future though. ^^ All the cool people are doing it, so...

Is that by using AIR? I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure I'd fit right in :) Haxe has some weird design decisions, but it's pretty easy to switch to from AS3

Will we hav some kind of demo of jet pack jesus?
Also, I'm a huge fan of your games, are you looking for an artist to collaborate with for the power of four? because if you still didn't reach out for someone I want to state that damn I'm here and I'd love to take part in a project with you

Hey, I appreciate your fandom :)
I don't know if there will be a demo. I originally wanted to put out a minimally complete version of the game, and then people could follow it as it grew, but "minimally complete version" gets bigger and more actually complete with each passing day, so I may just release it when it's done. That or I'll have a beta for people on some remote site that no ones heard of. If that happens, I'll let you know :)
